Day 16 Glaisbury to Littlebeck

12.9kms (303.6kms) 231m gained
As we approach our last day we are winding down. We are also in more developed areas. Beautiful villages mind, not noisy cities.
Garlic anybody! Is it a coincidence that this bank of wild garlic is only 10 miles from Whitby, where Count Dracula came ashore.
Clare is checking her purse to find the toll. We had a coffee in Egton Bridge  (after only an hours walking) and then a mere hour later we had a cold drink ( non-alcoholic) at Grosmont.
Train spotters everywhere! Steam trains run 3 times a day on a line that takes about 30 minutes and includes Glaisdale (our last sleepover).
We walked uphill through town, past the 33° steep road sign and up for another 3 kilometers.
Finally we gave up on reaching the top and we sat and ate.
Refreshed, we walked on until we reached our agreed shortcut, and a big Private sign. This gravel road was for access to Upper and Lower Quebec and Greyside farms only. What to do?
The map showed public right of ways past all these farms. We walked on, past the front door of one farm, through a herd of sheep NB it is an offence to "worry" sheep, and towards a second farm. That was when the farmer approached us!!!🤐
What he wanted was a chat about the weather, our walk, and in fact almost anything. He told us the next farmer had just gone out but go on past their front door then turn right.
We pressed on through the meadow above and down to our B&B.
No arrests for tresspas or sheep worrying today.

Good Night
