Day 2 Ennerdale Bridge to Seatoller

22kms (45.2kms) and 864m gained

This day was the same length and same climb but much easier on the body than yesterday.
Everyone was marvelling at the beautiful weather.
Lots of sheep
We walked along Ennerdale Water for about 2 hours. Of course we discussed renting a family sized holiday home here.
We then started climbing on a forestry track and after about two hours we reached England's most remote Youth Hostel
Black sails used to be a shepherds refuge. It is open 8 months of the year and has an eight bed dorm. It has an honesty box selling chocolates, tea and coffee.
We then went up another 100metres and descended into the wettest town in England.

Day 13 Ingleby Arncliffe to Clay Bank Top ( pickup point)

19.6 KMs (259.6) 974 m gained Today started with a very pleasant walk along well made tracks gradually getting steeper as we left farmland and headed for the escarpment. This field of Bluebells impressed. Near the top we entered the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Land of Heather, Grouse, Sheep and dog walkers. We walked along the escarpment for a  couple of hours with spectacular views west over the Vale of Mowbray ( vale of mud). We had lots of hang gliders accompanying us along the cliffs edge. This was a beautiful days walk, unfortunately it had two less pleasant aspects. This photo was from the top of the fifth steep climb of the day (see below). Our days walk was due to finish at 4 pm with a pick up from Clay Bank Top. This is a carpark in the middle of nowhere. Our driver was the Pub owner where we were staying in the village of Chop Gate, five kilometres away. This meant a forced March for the last 4 peaks. We...
