Day 17 Littlebeck to Robin Hood's Bay and the North Sea Coast!

Our last walking day!!!!!!
A confession
We are catching a taxi to take the middle 8kms of road walking out of today. This little first world enhancement to the ancient route will make it a pleasant four hour walk. 
Overnight a camper at our B&B took this photo when he had a different call of nature. We slept, blissfully unaware.

Two hours through village and woodland and two hours along the cliffs tops between Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay.
The "Fret" was comming in from the North Sea as we arrived
Half an hour later we were engulfed in the mist.
It is no wonder this is where Bran Stokers Dracula arrived
We went to the shore and threw our stone, from St Bees into the sea.
Our B&B is very comfortable and welcoming. We will rest our tired bodies and explore Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby tomorrow.

Day 1 St Bees (Irish Sea) to Ennerdale Bridge

23.2 KMs 926m gained We are sitting in our hotel bar At the end of day two. My sincerest apologies dear reader. Last night we showered ate and slept. We were shattered and the blog didn't happen. So, about day one. It was a beautiful day. We walked along the cliffs for several miles (1.6kms) then we turned inland through tiny villages, incredibly green grass and sheep of every colour. Did you know a white sheep can have two black lambs? The only shop between St Bees and Ennerdale Bridge was this general store in Cleator. They sell out of their " world famous pies", so we ordered the day before. I can't recommend a world famous cold pie, but the Jamaica Ginger Beer was excellent. After lunch by the roadside, we went up. 400 metres later, this was our view. What goes up, must come down, so we went down. down and down. We finished with a 4km (2.5m) walk along a creek to reach our nights stop at Ennerdale Bridge

Planes, trains and an automobile

We were delayed and hour in Sydney. Good old Qantas! The trip to Singapore was uneventful and our stopover was now only 45 minutes. We then took off for Iran, Ukraine and Russian airspace ( if you believed the pre fight displays.) The crew advised that the display would show our real course after it happened. The final display showed how we dodged all the hotspots. We landed safely and stayed overnight in Ealing Broadway (before a 4 train journey to Carlisle), this was suburban London, very busy, many cafes and hotel rooms big enough to get into. On our last trip we overnighted near Paddington station in central London and our double room was 16sqm. King Cross station was our last London stop before the train north to Newcastle. The queue was for Platform 9 3/4. Where could they have been going? In Carlisle we hired a car and spent the day exploring. We went to Hadrian's wall and visited a Roman Army camp exhibit. Day 0 What When Where and How

We are off again, on a holiday. A walking holiday of course. No beer tastes better and no Yorkshire pudding will be more appreciated than the ones we consume after a twenty kilometer walk through rain and mud. If you hadn't guessed we are off to the land of country pubs, shopkeepers, dry stone fences and James Herriot. Our  17 day "Coast to Coast" walk  covers 297 kms from St Bees in the Lake District, through the Yorkshire Dales to Robin Hood Bay (near Whitby) in the Yorkshire Moors. During the walk we will gain 9715 m ( hope we don't lose it all again in one go) We are walking on our own, but it is a very popular route so we expect company. We have one suitcase being couriered to the end and one joining us each night. Our day packs will have wet and cold gear, lunch and 2kg of water. We have pre-booked our accommodation for each night, mostly in village pubs or B and B's. What to take? Many choices are still to be made. Where to go? We fl...
