Isle of Man - training before plane(ing)

They have steam trains, electric trains and a horse drawn train. We tried them all. 
We caught the electric to the highest peakAbout 600m up with views (on a different day) to England (Cumbria) Wales and Ireland.
The Laxey waterwheel was very impressive
We caught the steam train to the southern tip and visited Castleton and Port Erin.
The Newfoundland Chair swallowed us up.Met up with Pauline and Geoff, Clare's Aunt in law's second cousins once removed (I think) for a very enjoyable coffee and chat.
We need to stop horsing around and come home.
We start our return bright and early tomorrow

Is it one of Britain's 4 nuclear submarines, or a view of the Isle of Man from Wales? Not quite. Actually a folly in Douglas' bay. There is two kilometers of 5 storey hotels (now mostly apartments). As we strolled along this shore we met a local couple who showed us a beach photo from the 1970's. It was packed like Bondi in mid summer. Now they all fly to Spain and the beach is never crowded. We caught a local bus across the island to Peel, Inneen's birthplace. About mid island the mist began, and never left us. We walked up the harbour, across the beach covered entirely in shells, and around the castle. We resisted the urge to buy Kipper Baps. Bus back to Douglas (about 30kms) and the sun reappeared. Time for an evening refreshment on the Bay before quiz night at the pub. Bye

Planes, trains and an automobile

We were delayed and hour in Sydney. Good old Qantas! The trip to Singapore was uneventful and our stopover was now only 45 minutes. We then took off for Iran, Ukraine and Russian airspace ( if you believed the pre fight displays.) The crew advised that the display would show our real course after it happened. The final display showed how we dodged all the hotspots. We landed safely and stayed overnight in Ealing Broadway (before a 4 train journey to Carlisle), this was suburban London, very busy, many cafes and hotel rooms big enough to get into. On our last trip we overnighted near Paddington station in central London and our double room was 16sqm. King Cross station was our last London stop before the train north to Newcastle. The queue was for Platform 9 3/4. Where could they have been going? In Carlisle we hired a car and spent the day exploring. We went to Hadrian's wall and visited a Roman Army camp exhibit. St Bees

This is our starting point. Five people got off our two car train We caught an all stations Carlisle to Barrow in Furness. Our stop was the smallest of the small. This seaside town is better known for its rain. It was stunning. We have now had 3 days without rain and we haven't started our walk. Hope we haven't wasted it!! This is where we start, tomorrow, bright and early, up and along the cliffline.
